Primarily lapilli and bomb tuff, volcanic ash in other words, featuring volcanic phenocrysts such as lava pieces, olivine bombs and other crystals, dominated by finer particles. The ashes are half volcanic and tertiary in composition in the colours brown-grey, weathered dark grey and red.
Soil Type: Alternating sand and sandy gravel with marly silts and fine sands.
Ground Type: lime-free Kulturrohboden, lime-free Rigolboden
The Kirchleiten is best described as a basin exposed to the south. The hillside is at more than a 30% incline, the vineyard spans ca. 2 ha at elevations between 350 and 400 meters.
