A place of ease, a place to while away the moments
More than 1,000 years of history
Schloss Kapfenstein lies in the midst of Styria’s Vulkanland region, close to the Slovenian and Hungarian borders. Built upon an extinct volcanic cone, this castle fortification has been enthroned here since the 11th century.
The heart of this former fortress is a small, family-style hotel with 16 guestrooms and a restaurant.
Together with seating out on the castle terraces, which afford magical views of the Eastern Styria hill country, it is not only a place with a history, it is also somewhere that allows yearnings to grow and invites guests to enjoy moments of pause.
“Happiness does not depend on outward things,
but on the way we see them.”
– Leo N. Tolstoi
